Search Engine Optimization and Promotion

Search Engines are a fantastic tool for getting your web site in front of people who are looking for EXACTLY what it is you are trying to provide. The majority of web users start many of their internet journeys from a search engine or an index.

A Search Engine is a web site (such as Google or Yahoo) which contains a program that searches the web for keywords. It then returns the information in the form of a list of sites, listed with titles and descriptions. An Index is an on-line database of sites grouped into categories (such as the Open Directory Project). The big difference between Search Engines and Indexes is that Search Engines are computer programs and Indexes are lists moderated by humans. It is generally a much harder and slower process getting your site added to the Indexes than the Search Engines.

At Positronic Design, we pursue the dual strategy of making our client's web sites inviting and accessible to BOTH human index reviewers AND computerized spiders that catalog your site for the search engines. This is done with the proper use of headers, body content, titling, meta tags, and navigation links. We can also review and re-engineer existing sites to make them come up better in the search engines. This process is called Organic Search Engine Optimization, and we have become very good at it over the years.

We also use semi-automated site submission software to quickly and affordably submit your site to the top 30 or so indexes and search engines worldwide. This software automates the process of submitting to sites that accept auto-submission without penalty while flagging for manual submission those sites which require it. Beware of claims from vendors who say they will submit you to hundreds of "search engines". There are not more than a few dozen search sites that anyone ever goes to, so schemes that suggest otherwise are simply not being truthful.

Another key strategy which actually improves your search engine relevancy rankings while also providing quality site hits is Subject-Relevant Reciprocal Link Networking. This is a process of trolling the web for other sites of a complementary nature to yours and contacting them about exchanging reciprocal links. This is usually accomplished by creating a "Cool Links" or "Web Resources" page on your site where you can include a link to all of your associated websites. It greatly improves your "relevancy" rankings in many search engines to be linked to from other sites within your general category. We don't use general "link farms" because they don't provide relevant hits and they can get you banned from some search engines.

We also have designed several pay-per-click search engine advertising campaigns for our clients, which have been very cost-effective. One client increased his traffic ten-fold with a pay-per-click campaign for a cost of only about $8.00 per day.

Contact us via phone or e-mail if you would like to discuss improving your web site's performance on the major search engines, starting a pay per click campaign or developing your own reciprocal link network. We're always happy to explain to our clients how this process works and provide reference and examples of our strategies in action.
